A leading chemical company in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is seeking an experienced IP Counsel to oversee patent protection for research and industrial projects. This role entails collaboration with various teams to identify patentable subjects, manage IP training, and draft necessary agreements. Candidates must have 5 years of experience, a strong background in chemistry and biotechnology, and be fluent in English. Qualifications

We are looking for our new IP counsel, Europe to ensure patent protection surrounding R\&I and industrial projects, secure Freedom to Operate of core technologies, new products and new processes– Advise and assist R\&I and business community in negotiating appropriate agreements involving confidentiality topics and IP clauses and implement Adisseo IP strategy.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Senior IP Manager:

  • Connect and Collaborate with R\&I and facilities communities to proactively follow up on Innovation or Industrial projects on an IP perspective to ensure detection of patentable subject matters and needs for freedom to operate studies.
  • Perform and Analyze searches for patentability in the chemistry and biotechnology fields and issue internal patentability opinions - Draft patent application texts and review with inventors.
  • Handle relationships with external IP law firms.
  • Provide IP training(s) to increase awareness and sensibility to IP topics of R\&I community
  • Advise R\&I and business teams on IP agreements needs and assist legal department in drafting and negotiating IP agreements (NDA,MTA, Research agreement, License and JDA)
  • Perform portfolio reviews and follow ups on IP budget
  • Assist in deploying Global IP strategy
  • Support the Senior IP Manager in Oppositions and IP litigations cases
Qualifications
  • 5 years Experienced and Europe Qualifying Examination (mandatory) attorney with a strong chemistry and biotechnology background, with ability to perform:
    • Patentability searches and assessment
    • Drafting of patent applications
    • Freedom to Operate/Validity/Non-infringement opinions under EP/FR patent law practice
    • Preparing Opposition cases
  • The candidate shall have a strong understanding of patent prosecution requirements aspects WW, as well as a strong understanding of EP and FR patent laws.
  • Confidentiality aspects shall be mastered, and Contractual skills are needed, notably in drafting IP clauses of agreements.

An experience in Opposition in EP and/or IP Litigation in FR is a plus.
