Renaissance Fusion (RF) is the first Magnetic Confinement Fusion company in the EU. We are building the first net‑energy producing stellarator by combining proprietary innovations in modular design, the manufacturing of next‑generation High‑Temperature Superconducting (HTS) magnets, and liquid‑metal (LM) walls. We are forming a team of the brightest, most driven scientists and engineers to realize and commercialize our non‑fusion products within 2 years and integrated fusion solutions within 10 years.

Our team is agile, international, and based in the exciting city of Grenoble, by the French Alps.

We are currently looking for a leader for our Automation, Control, and Electrical (ACE) team.

In this position you will share and develop your expertise with your colleagues as part of the Engineering as a Service (EAS) department.

The EAS team collaborates with RF's different R&D teams providing highly skilled engineering services for the successful completion of the RF Project. The Vacuum technology group is part of the EAS department. You will directly report to the Vacuum Technology Group Leader.

About the Role

As a group leader, you will lead a talented team of engineers working in the disciplines of automation, control systems, and electrical engineering. You will ensure that the group will provide solutions and services within these disciplines to meet the requirements provided by the various group leaders and heads.

Responsibilities
Management
  • Lead, manage, and supervise a team of automation, control, and electrical engineers
  • Coordinate and collaborate on solutions that meet the specifications provided by different departments
  • Identify and assess technical requirements across departments in collaboration with other group leaders and heads
  • Manage team activities, workload, set clear objectives, and priorities to ensure alignment with company goals
Technical & Project supervision
  • Address the automation, control, and electrical projects, from requirements gathering to implementation and commissioning
  • Collaborate with other group leaders and department heads to identify engineering needs and define project requirements
Strategic & Cultural Leadership
  • Be the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within your team, and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference and unified force) and policies
  • Prepare and present technical reports and progress for senior management
  • Promote and enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) within the team's projects and daily work
Requirements

Education & Professional Experience
  • PhD or Master's degree with equivalent experience, in Automation, Control, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of professional experience
  • Proven experience in technical leadership, team coordination, or project management
  • Hands‑on experience with industrial systems such as motion control, electro‑mechanical systems, instrumentation, heating systems, PLCs, and automation technologies
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of automation, control theory, electrical engineering, and electronics, including SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of electrical drawings and P&ID diagrams
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, Matlab®, C/C++, TwinCAT (PLC, HMI, etc.), Git, and development in Linux
  • Proficiency in computer‑aided engineering tools such as AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor
  • Knowledge of applicable norms such as EN60204
Languages
  • Fluent English (C1/C2 level).
  • Proficiency in French (B1 or higher) is a plus
