Role Summary
The EXIM Logistics Executive will be responsible for managing all aspects of the import and export operations for Preet Groups international / domestic trade of goods, machinery, and spares. This includes documentation, coordination with multiple stakeholders (vendors, freight forwarders, customs, warehouses), ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing logistics costs, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle full lifecycle of import & export operations: from purchase order / contract stage to goods delivery / dispatch.
- Prepare, verify and process all relevant EXIM documentation such as commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, bill of lading / airway bill, export licences, insurance, etc.
- Liaise with customs clearance agents, freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, ports / airports, insurance providers.
- Ensure compliance with export/import regulations (DGFT, customs, foreign trade policies, export control, customs duties / tariffs, trade treaties) and internal company policies.
- Ensure proper classification of goods (HS codes), value declarations, and proper labeling / marking.
- Coordinate with procurement, production, quality, finance, and packaging teams to ensure shipments are ready on time and meet all quality & regulatory requirements.
- Track shipments (sea / air / land) and ensure timely movement; monitor schedules and intervene proactively in case of delays / issues.
- Manage logistics cost optimisation – comparing quotes from different carriers / forwarders, negotiating, consolidating shipments where feasible.
- Maintain and update records of all imports / exports, inventory movements, leads times, duty / tax payments, and document controls.
- Assist with risk assessments, insurance claims when shipments are damaged / missing.
- Provide regular reports to management on status of pending shipments, cost variances, delays, regulatory changes.
- Help in audits & ensure that all documentation is audit-ready.
Qualification & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business / Commerce, or similar field.
- Prior experience (2-5 years or more) in import/export operations in manufacturing / heavy engineering / machinery / steel industries.
- Good working knowledge of EXIM regulations in India (DGFT, customs, FTA / trade agreements etc.).
- Strong understanding of shipping documentation, terms (INCOTERMS), HS codes, port / sea / air freight.
- Ability to use logistics management software / ERPs and MS Office tools (especially Excel for tracking and reporting).
- Excellent coordination, negotiation, communication skills (verbal & written).
- Problem solving mindset, attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines.
- Preferred: knowledge of international shipping logistics, handling of large / heavy machinery items, experience dealing with overseas suppliers / clients.
