A leading cancer research institute in Paris is seeking an engineer to study interactions between macrophages and viruses. The role includes culturing cell lines, conducting molecular biology research, and managing laboratory tasks. Candidates should possess a Master's or PhD in Immunology or Oncology and have strong teamwork and self-organization skills. The position offers a fixed-term contract for 18 months, starting in September 2024, with competitive remuneration and benefits including collective catering and health insurance.
The Institut Curie is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a hospital and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international objective. The Curie Institute Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.
The team is part of the Department of Immunology (INSERM U932) located within the exciting scientific environment of the Institut Curie, one of the largest European institutions for cancer research and biomedical research with strong interdisciplinary traditions.
Philippe Benaroch's team works on the biology of human myeloid cells, which represent a very ancient form of cellular immunity. Myeloid cells indeed constitute the first line of defense against many pathogens. The team studies how, at the molecular level, viruses manage to infect macrophages and how these macrophages defend themselves and protect us. The team also investigates the role of myeloid cells in the tumor microenvironment and in the mechanisms of tumor resistance and evasion of the immune response. Finally, the team aims to exploit the functional properties of myeloid cells for therapeutic anti-tumor purposes through genetic manipulation.
The engineer will primarily work on the interactions between macrophages and viruses.
All our opportunities are open to people with disabilities.
