A leading industrial company in France seeks an HSE Engineer to manage environmental challenges on a Seveso-classified site. This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, leading onsite improvement actions on wastewater management, and promoting a robust safety culture among operational teams. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent, ideally with experience in a similar industrial environment, and strong communication skills. This position offers the chance to significantly impact the site's HSE performance.

As part of the strengthening of our HSE approach, we are recruiting an HSE Engineer with a strong interest in environmental topics, while maintaining a strong field presence in safety matters.

Our industrial site, classified Seveso, involves significant environmental challenges, particularly related to wastewater management and an on-site wastewater treatment plant.

We are looking for a profile able to combine technical expertise, field pragmatism and strong communication skills.

Your responsibilities

Environment – core focus of the role

  • Lead and monitor the site’s environmental topics, particularly wastewater management and the on-site treatment plant
  • Ensure environmental regulatory compliance (water, waste, emissions, discharges)
  • Identify and deploy improvement actions to reduce the site’s environmental footprint
  • Contribute to environmental investment and optimization projects

Safety & field HSE

  • Be present in the field to promote a strong, pragmatic safety culture
  • Participate in risk assessments (DUERP, risk analyses, HSE studies)
  • Lead and coordinate HSE incident investigations (root cause analysis, 5 Whys) and follow up on corrective actions
  • Raise awareness, train teams and deliver clear and effective safety messages to operational staff
  • Support the HSE Manager in deploying the site’s HSE policy
  • Contribute to internal and external HSE reporting
  • Draft and update HSE procedures, instructions and emergency plans
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Profile required
  • Master’s degree or Engineering degree (Bac+5 equivalent) with a specialization in HSE, industrial environment or risk management
  • Experience in an industrial environment, ideally on a Seveso-classified site
  • Strong interest in environmental topics, particularly related to water, wastewater, environmental impacts and compliance
  • Good knowledge of industrial and chemical risks, as well as risk analysis tools (HAZOP, FMEA/AMDEC)
  • Strong field-oriented profile, able to interact with operational teams, simplify technical topics and deliver HSE messages with credibility
  • Autonomous, analytical, curious and responsible mindset
