Description du poste
Offer Description

The IBMC institute is located in the heart of the campus of the University of Strasbourg, easily accessible by bus and tram. The Unit ‘RNA architecture and reactivity’, under the supervision of CNRS (UPR 9002), is a multidisciplinary laboratory whose research themes focus on RNA biology of the RNA world.

We welcome a PhD student to join the ‘Structure and dynamics of biomolecular machines’ team. The team consists of six researchers, four engineers, one post‑doctoral researcher and two doctoral students. The PhD student will be attached to the Doctoral School of Life Sciences and Health (ED414).

Benefits available include access to fully equipped instrumentation, informatics support, an administrative restaurant, partial reimbursement of travel expenses, and representation by a work council.

  • Must hold a Master’s or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Solid knowledge of RNA and protein biochemistry plus biophysics.
  • Strong interest in bioinformatics and data processing is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English at C2 level (writing and speaking) is required for reporting and presenting results.

Applications should include a detailed CV, two references, a letter of motivation, a summary of the Master’s internship, and grades for Master 1 and Master 2.

Project Focus

The thesis project will investigate mosquito protein factors that interact with the non‑coding regions of ZIKV/DENV viral RNA, as well as viral RNA/protein complexes involved in the DENV and ZIKV replication cycle. Complementary biophysical approaches such as microcalorimetry, mass spectrometry, crystallography, and nuclear magnetic resonance will be employed.

This work will contribute to a detailed characterization of the mechanisms driving viral replication and will form a basis for designing novel drugs capable of disrupting the viral replication cycle.
