Data Center Construction Civil Engineer

Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of projects from site planning to construction, including reviewing and representing program directives and guiding consultants to meet project goals and design standards.
- Apply civil engineering expertise for design-related activities on data center sites or projects.
- Serve as consultant, advisor, and authorized representative for hyperscale data center clients through all project phases.
- Collaborate with client partner groups, design consultants, construction management firms, and contractors to implement design and construction contracts.
- Provide engineering mentorship and conduct reviews of civil engineering works related to site layout and data center building design.
- Contribute to developing civil engineering guidelines and design standards.
- Review submitted designs, provide feedback, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Coordinate scope with multiple trades (architecture, telecom, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural).
- Communicate complex ideas concisely through design drawings, presentations, and virtual meetings with internal and external parties.
- Manage all areas of project management for multiple real estate projects: planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout.
- Work with clients to prepare project elements: scope of work, resource requirements, cost estimates and budget, schedule, quality control, and risk identification.
- Define project delivery resources from pre-qualified lists or through project qualification; conduct complex RFPs, bid evaluations, and resource recommendations.
- Facilitate development of a project charter and coordinated timeline; ensure on-schedule delivery and escalate issues as needed.
- Lead regular project status meetings for active and pending projects and guide the team through implementation and completion.
- Apply advanced knowledge to develop new, better methods for achieving department and organizational objectives.
- Demonstrate subject-matter expertise and cross-team knowledge within the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 8-10 years of experience; in lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Solid understanding of the commercial real estate industry including financial analysis, project management, construction, ethical practices, business operations, marketing, and business development.
- Familiarity with water/wastewater design and hydraulic modeling.
- Knowledge of site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control.
- Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions with broad impact on the business.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Professional Engineer license is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and inquisitive mentality.
- Assist in maintaining product specifications, technical documentation, and best practices for M&E systems in brownfield data centers.
- Work within broad guidelines and policies; explain difficult or sensitive information.
- Assist with vendor correspondence, scheduling, and tracking deliverables related to brownfield M&E product orders and services.
- Ability to apply judgment based on analysis of multiple information sources and to consider new perspectives on existing solutions.
Additional/Second Set of Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience; LEED AP, PMP, or CMM is advantageous.
- Foundational understanding of Mechanical & Electrical systems in data centers or critical infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, UPS, generators).
- Basic understanding of data center operations or critical facilities is helpful.
- Strong organizational skills and advanced inquisitive mentality.
- Advanced math skills, including calculations of percentages and financial figures.
- Ability to solve problems with standard and innovative solutions impacting the business.

Salary ranges: minimum $150,000 to maximum $185,000 annually. Eligible for discretionary bonus based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include: 401(K), Dental, Health, Life, and Vision insurance.
