Responsibilities
  • To provide an advanced triage and physiotherapy service as part of the HSE Quality and Clinical Care Directorate Clinical Pathways Development Waiting List Initiative 2011.
  • To ensure patients are seen by the right person, at the right time in the right place in line with Slaintecare vision.
  • To reduce the waiting times for patients to be seen by the orthopaedic team.
  • To work with orthopaedic consultants undertaking triage of musculoskeletal referrals to improve the pathway of care between primary care and acute services, thereby facilitating efficient access to orthopaedics, rheumatology, physiotherapy or other service as required.
  • To contribute to the mainstreaming of the improved pathway of care between primary care and acute services through the development of multidisciplinary interface clinics as part of the improved service model for orthopaedics and rheumatology.
  • Musculoskeletal Interface Clinics are joint clinical assessment clinics provided at the interface between primary and secondary care service providers.
