Airline Duty Manager at King County International Airport (Boeing Field)

King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KCIA) is searching for a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player who is knowledgeable in FAA FAR Part 139 and all local, state, and other federal regulations. This senior airport representative will lead operations at the airport, serving as the primary point of contact for safety, security, compliance, construction, and interactions with airlines, passengers, tenants, and the public.

About KCIA

KCIA is one of the busiest primary non‑hub general aviation airports in the nation, averaging 180,000 aircraft operations each year. Located just four miles south of downtown Seattle, the airport supports more than 16,000 jobs and generates a $3.5 billion economic impact, including $1.8 billion in labor income in the county. KCIA provides a final delivery center for Boeing’s 737s and serves multiple commercial, cargo, military, and private operators. The Museum of Flight is on the property, and the airport hosts notable dignitaries and sports teams due to its proximity to major Seattle venues.

Scope of Job Duties
  • Manage daily airport functions, ensuring safe and efficient operations in compliance with the Airport Certification Manual (ACM).
  • Conduct airfield and facility inspections to verify FAR Part 139, local, state, and federal compliance; record discrepancies and arrange corrective action.
  • Activate the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) as needed and support incident command for effective incident or accident management.
  • Identify and address safety and security concerns through continuous surveillance and communication with FAA Air Traffic Control.
  • Coordinate opening/closing of taxiways or runways with airfield tenants and the FAA tower to ensure safety.
  • Respond to weather events, irregular operations, and emergencies such as accidents, bomb threats, or hazardous spills.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce programs: driver’s training, wildlife management, hazardous spill compliance, snow and ice control.
  • Communicate with airlines, tenants, and airport personnel to resolve customer and tenant issues.
  • Serve as primary contact for safety, security, compliance, construction, and tenant interactions, coordinating with senior management as needed.
  • Control the common‑use aircraft parking gates, ensuring proper scheduling and billing.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who
  • Have progressive experience at a FAR Part 139 certified airport or comparable education/experience.
  • Lead FAA certification, security programs, winter‑weather/disaster exercises, or construction/maintenance coordination.
  • Possess strong knowledge of FAR Part 139, TSA 1500‑series regulations, and related Advisory Circulars.
  • Exhibit effective people‑leading and mentoring skills and be comfortable using technology.
  • Can operate in an environment requiring emergency response, customer service, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Work effectively in a team that embraces diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrate fairness, respect, and inclusiveness in behavior.
  • Have a certified member designation with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) — desirable.
Supplemental Information
  • This position is represented by PTE Local 17 and is part of a 24‑hour operation, requiring shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays.
The Successful Candidate as a Condition of Employment Will Need to
  • Pass a TSA fingerprint‑based criminal history check.
  • Obtain and maintain a Washington State driver’s license.
  • Acquire movement‑area driving privileges within 90 days and complete First Aid, CPR, and airfield driver certifications within 3 months.
