A leading aerospace manufacturer in Marignane is seeking a Flight Control System Engineer for a fixed-term project. You will develop and implement avionics and flight controls, focusing on the trajectory generation and control law implementation. Key qualifications include strong knowledge of C/C++, control laws, and an engineering degree. The role allows for flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely within a high-achieving team aiming for innovative technology development.
Airbus Upnext is launching a new cross‑divisional demonstrator that will deliver strategic outputs to all Airbus divisions. It will help reinforce knowledge and capacity to propose disruptive and differentiating avionics architecture and advanced awareness sensors to enrich Airbus Helicopters future products.
Following initial exploration from VERTEX and other UpNext demonstrators, sense & avoidance technologies such as cameras and LiDARs, as well as aircraft robust positioning even in case of GPS loss, will be further developed up to a high level of maturity for helicopter use. These technologies will be used to increase the crews’ awareness of the environment through a novel Human Machine Interface better adapted to new on‑board technologies.
As Flight Control System Engineer you actively contribute to the development of the Avionics and Flight Controls of the demonstrator. You will:
You have a strong ability to both conceive and execute: from the documentation of the needs to the low‑level code of the embedded software.
Your participation in creativity sessions is key to ensure the sprint set‑up and filtering of orientations as regards technical feasibility.
You are accountable for the technobrick(s) maturation, up‑scaling and the formal assessment.
You are passionate and impatient about putting methods and processes in place to achieve your targets. You are the type of person who thinks about how things can be done rather than if they can be done. You work collaboratively and with humility and are a constant learner about how to improve performance. A healthy dose of impatience with processes and bureaucracy and willingness to move fast and take risks are essential attributes.
This job is based in Marignane and it comes with a limited contract (CDI‑C) linked to the deliverable of the demonstrator (estimated end date: end of June 2028). Starting date ASAP. The position will require some business travel to Toulouse.
Founded in 2017 Airbus UpNext is actively shaping the future of aerospace by using flying demonstrators to evaluate mature and validate new products and services. Designed as a talent incubator, Airbus UpNext is a place where you can act and think like a startup while building on the strong expertise of Airbus, a place where you are empowered to challenge and test new processes and ways of working.
