Based in Sophia Antipolis, France, Pulse Audition is a fresh start‑up‑like team within EssilorLuxottica. The team consists of experts in AI, Audio Signal processing, Audiology, Hardware and Software who are working together to developp cutting‑edge technologies to be integrated into smart eyewear products, to improve the social inclusion of people suffering from hearing loss.

Your role

We are looking for a Senior Audio Quality Engineer who will be responsible for defining and implementing the objective and subjective audio quality evaluation pipeline of audio processing algorithms developed at EssilorLuxottica, and driving audio quality and intelligibility improvements through analysis of the results.

Main responsibilities
  • Setup, maintain, and be responsible for the Acoustic Lab used to conduct the measures.
  • Research, define and implement objective and subjective evaluation methodologies to assess the quality and intelligibility of audio processing algorithms.
  • Conduct in‑person and remote listening tests and perceptual evaluations to assess audio processing performance, including for noise reduction, speech enhancement, beamforming, etc.
  • Leverage data analysis on test results to provide actionable algorithmic recommendations, presenting clear conclusions to guide development and improve overall performance.
  • Stay updated on advancements in audio quality standards, psychoacoustics, and testing methodologies.
Main requirements
  • Master’s or PhD in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Psychoacoustics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in audio quality evaluation or signal processing roles.
  • Strong familiarity with objective and subjective audio evaluation standards in the hearing aid and consumer audio industries.
  • Expertise in psychoacoustic testing methods and tools.
  • Experience in quality assurance testing for audio technologies.
  • Systemic understanding of DSP and AI techniques relevant to hearing aids or speech enhancement.
  • Familiarity with audiology, hearing aid tuning, phonetics and speech perception is a huge bonus.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML models for audio applications (e.g., noise suppression, speech recognition) is a huge bonus.
  • Familiarity with common assistive hearing processing blocks such as beamforming, noise reduction, feedback management, or compression is a huge bonus.
