Offer Description

Bienvenüe+is an international post-doctoral fellowship programme aiming at attracting talented scientists to develop their two-year project in Breton laboratories. The programme is co-funded by the European HORIZON-MSCA-COFUND programme, the regional council of Brittany (Région Bretagne) and the 20 Host Institutions. The programme is coordinated by Région Bretagne.

Bienvenüe+is organised around the open, transparent and merit-based recruitment of 3 cohorts of 25 high-profile post-doctoral fellows.Bienvenüe+aims to integrate theMarie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) principles and European standards of excellence into Région Bretagne’s research programme management.

The upcoming call will open on 1st December 2025 and will close on 16th February 2026, with fellowships starting between September 2026 and January 2027.

Bienvenüe+ follows a thematical rather than a discipline approach: projects from every discipline can be funded as long as theycontribute to one of the strategic innovation areas of the Breton Research & Innovation Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS3): Maritime economy for blue growth, Secure and responsible digital economy, Health and welfare economics for a better quality of life, Food economy for everyone to eat well, Economics of industry for intelligent productions, and finally a transversal axis around transitions.

A wide range of research disciplines can therefore be funded through Bienvenüe+ such as:

Anthropology, Architecture, Arts, Astronomy, Biological sciences, Chemistry, Communication Sciences, Computer science, cultural studies, demography, economics, educational sciences, engineering, environmental science, ethics in health sciences, ethics in natural sciences, ethics in physical sciences, ethics in social sciences, geography, geosciences, history, information science, juridical sciences, language sciences, management sciences, technology, sociology, psychological sciences, neurosciences, pharmacological sciences, mathematics, philosophy, medical sciences, political sciences, physics,… Projects with a social sciences approach are particularly welcome.

TheBienvenüe+consortium is formed by 20 complementary and internationally recognized Host Institutionslocated in Brittany, and the SATT Ouest Valorisation, which offers support for training and technological transfer. Only research units located in Brittany are eligible to host Bienvenüe+ fellows.

The Bienvenüe+ fellowship includes an attractive training programme (research-oriented and on transferable skills) as well as local support to develop innovative projects. Collaborations with additional actors in the academic or socio-economic sectors are encouraged through secondments and placements. Finally, dedicated staff will help the fellows to relocate in Brittany.

  • A 24-month fellowship with an estimated net remuneration of 2,711€ per month, a mobility allowance of 200€ gross per month, and a family allowance up to 299€ (gross amount of the remuneration, including mobility allowance, of 3 892€ after deduction of the employer’s contribution)
  • Full social security according to French standards (parental and sick leave, 25 vacation days per year minimum, pension contribution, unemployment benefits once the contract is over)
  • A research, networking and training contribution of 1,000€ per month
  • Live in Brittany with high-level quality of life and get support for your arrival and during your stay
Eligibility criteria
  • PhD degree holder; no minimum or maximum limit of experience after having successfully defended the thesis
  • Compliance with the MSCA mobility rule:applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months in the last three years before the call deadline (period to consider: 16 February 2023 – 16th February 2026)
  • Research project proposal contributes to the Breton Research & Innovation Smart Specialization Strategy
  • It is mandatory for an applicant to contact and find beforehand a Breton researcher that agrees to supervise the fellow if the application is successful. For this purpose, and in addition to applicants’ personal networks, applicants may find Breton researchers’ expressions of interest to supervise a Bienvenüe+ fellow on the programme website.
