Job Description Summary
Position & Key Outcomes: The role of the Technical Leader in Onshore Wind International (ONWI) is to develop fully optimized and well‑documented technical proposals for the supply of wind turbine units and services. The Technical Leader is responsible for engaging with and responding to customers, developing high‑quality technical proposals for Onshore Wind projects and supporting technical discussions and negotiations. The Technical Leader will own the preparation of the technical proposal, review and amend technical contract documents, put forward GEV’s contractual positions and negotiate to a successful contract award. The Technical Leader must work closely with key stakeholders, including the Commercial Leader, Sales Leader and extended functions such as Product Line, Engineering, Project Operations and Project Management. The Technical Leader must operate with the highest standards of integrity and compliance.
A Senior Technical Leader will show leadership in their region and within the International Technical Community through providing mentorship to junior members and support on more complex deals, while also maintaining their region’s specific aspects of GEV’s product offering. For all deals they work on, they strive to extract the maximum value from the proposals for both GEV and the customer. Through their knowledge of the market and GEV products, they represent their regions.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities Include:
- Support the Commercial team as a Technical Proposals Lead for ONWI, reporting to the Regional Commercial Director.
- Lead technical aspects of the New Unit proposal development during the bidding and negotiation phase as a member of the Commercial Operations team, being the point of contact for both the customer and the applicable internal supporting functions to optimise value offering for assigned projects and manage transaction details related to all technical and costing aspects.
- Accountable for ensuring high‑quality, well‑defined technical proposals, which help position GEV Renewable Energy to win profitable and executable orders.
- Apply market and product knowledge to enhance the value of the technical solution for both GEV and the customer.
- Own the technical analysis of customer inquiries, requests for quotations (RFQ) or tenders to determine proposal requirements, technical deviations, scope of supply definition and execution strategy optimisation.
- Interface with appropriate internal stakeholders in relation to the above responsibilities, leading technical participation in the relevant Risk Management processes and meetings.
- Represent ONWI at client meetings and negotiations related to technical aspects of the proposal/contract.
- Identify and lead initiatives to improve tools and processes, proposal quality and technical risk optimisation.
- Provide technical support towards customers and project key stakeholders by presenting GEV technology.
- Train, coach and mentor junior technical leaders and other internal functions with regards to Technical Proposals.
- Maintain regional specific variations to GEV’s product offering and/or GEV’s Standard Work, practising best industry standards and driving others to do the same.
- Impact the standard approach to develop technical proposals by taking new perspectives on existing solutions, influencing improvements to ways of working, quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the New Unit Technical Proposals Team.
- Contribute toward strategy and offering by reporting market demand and supporting Product Line to define the product and features, creating value for the customers.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Significant years of experience as a technical proposal manager or similar roles.
- Master’s degree or equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; integrative team‑working style.
- Good communication skills and confidence with executive‑level and customer presentations.
- Strong process analysis, problem‑solving and strategy development skills.
- Experience with Excel and analytical tools.
- Customer‑oriented.
- Ability to work with cross‑functional and cross‑business teams.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with a “Can‑do” attitude, willingness to challenge the status quo for the better.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work intensively during the negotiation period.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

- Willingness to travel 20‑30% of the time, mainly within Europe.
