Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Tax Manager to lead and strengthen direct tax services. In this role, you will take responsibility for advising on tax-efficient strategies, guiding complex transactions and restructurings, and supporting a diverse portfolio of international and local clients. You’ll work collaboratively across teams, mentor junior professionals, and contribute to the growth and improvement of tax processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead tax planning initiatives and implement strategies to optimize clients' direct tax liabilities.
Provide advice on tax implications of corporate restructurings, financings, M&A, and cross-border investments.
Support a variety of ad-hoc tax advisory engagements for both international and local clients.
Oversee preparation and filing of corporate tax returns and manage tax refund applications.
Coordinate with tax authorities during audits and examinations.
Deliver technical training and high-quality support to accounting and audit teams.
Stay updated on developments in domestic and international direct tax legislation.
Identify opportunities for service line expansion and business development.
Review and enhance internal tax processes and systems for efficiency and compliance.
Serve as a key mentor and technical reviewer for junior team members.
Qualifications
ACCA qualified, or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in a Corporate Service Provider (CSP) or similar environment.
In-depth knowledge of Maltese accounting standards and tax legislation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Maltese; additional languages are an advantage.
Ability to manage deadlines, work proactively, balance autonomy and teamwork, and build strong client relationships.
