Descripción del empleo

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in Granada, Spain.

Our Technology:

We're the world leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (R-PNT) solutions that improve the reliability, performance, and safety of critical applications and high-risk operations, even in GPS/GNSS denied environments. We provide virtually fail-safe GNSS and PNT solutions for military and commercial applications worldwide.

To this end, we have developed industry-leading solutions built around ultra-accurate synchronization (sub-ns) and frequency distribution services, leveraging the enhanced White Rabbit PTP synchronization technology for applications from financial networks timing to robust positioning.

We possess strong expertise in cutting-edge systems design for major scientific facilities, including radio-telescopes, neutrino sensors, and particle accelerators. Additionally, Safran has significant experience in Time Sensitive Networking, collaborating with ESA to provide deterministic communications with zero packet loss. We are a dynamic company focused on research and innovation, delivering reliable and robust timing solutions.

The Position:

You will work within the Special Project Unit (SPU), aiming to achieve technological breakthroughs through close collaboration with customers and international partners. The team focuses on integrating innovative ideas into customer-driven product customization, developing future disruptive R-PNT solutions.

You will join a flexible, result-oriented, and motivated team, working alongside engineers and customers worldwide. Your responsibilities include designing, integrating, and validating software related to wireless time transfer, including user applications, software libraries, and test automation. You will also extend our synchronization protocol for wireless interfaces and troubleshoot issues during development. Final project stages may involve assembling demonstrators and traveling to showcase proofs of concept.

What you will be doing:

  • You will help understand, modify, and complete customer requirements, contributing to innovative project development.
  • You will develop software for our embedded R-PNT products and upcoming Safran products, including writing kernel modules, drivers, and protocol extensions.
  • You will validate your software, ensure operation in embedded Linux, and debug complex integration issues involving SW and FPGA components.
  • You will contribute to assembling demonstrators and traveling for project showcases.
  • You will produce technical reports and documentation, requiring strong technical writing skills in English.
  • You will evaluate new technologies, develop algorithms, and contribute innovative solutions beyond customer expectations.
  • You will apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure high-quality results within schedule, effort, and budget constraints.
  • You will communicate effectively with project partners, managers, and stakeholders from project initiation to meetings.
  • You will participate in drafting international R&T project proposals, collaborating to define scopes, approaches, and deliverables, articulating complex concepts clearly and persuasively.

What you Bring to Safran:

  • Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related fields.
  • A PhD in relevant fields is highly desirable.
  • At least 5 years of experience in object-oriented development (C++/Golang/Rust); Java/C# is a plus.
  • Experience scripting in Linux/Unix environments with bash, Python, etc.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of software lifecycle tools and methodologies like Agile/Scrum.
  • Experience with Linux embedded systems, FPGA SoC processors, and networking stacks is valuable.
  • Knowledge of REST API communication is an asset.
  • Ability to understand complex problems, develop and optimize algorithms based on advanced concepts.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Ambition for personal and professional growth, passion for technology, and participation in ambitious international projects.
  • Autonomy, resilience, and adaptability to open-ended projects with uncertain specifications.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Patience and resourcefulness.

Our Offer:

  • Be part of a leading and expanding company.
  • Career development focused on growth.
  • International and dynamic environment in Granada, with global collaboration and travel opportunities.
  • Potential for internal promotion.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Health insurance.
