Following our commitment to invest £12.5 billion in low carbon projects over the next 5 years, we have significant growth plans and are well on our way to achieving our ambition to build a world that's more sustainable and inclusive for you, your family, the community you live in and for generations to come.Join us on our journey to net zero and help us power change.**About the Role****Base Location**: Madrid, Spain**Salary**: €Competitive + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.**Working Pattern**: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableSSE Renewables has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Public Affairs & Communications Manager to manage external relations and communications in Spain and support the wider Southern Europe team.Your key responsibilities will include:- Establishing strong relationships with key external stakeholders in Spain at a national and regional level including politicians, trade associations, government officials, government agencies, and non-governmental organisations, representing SSE Renewables with these external audiences at meetings and speaking engagements- Creating a plan of proactive media engagement to help build the profile for, and highlight the values and positive contributions of SSE Renewables in Spain, our key assets and our people - particularly within the communities within which it operates- Support development teams in Italy, Greece and France on their public affairs and communications issues.- Gathering and analysing up to date information on political, governmental and key influencer activities to provide policy advice and strategic support to SSE Renewables through accurate and in-depth reading of the energy contest in Spain- Working collaboratively with colleagues across Corporate Affairs to identify key business issues, ensuring each issue has clear ownership and plans in place to mitigate or address the concern. You'll continually re-assess these plans and proactively anticipate potential future issues that may impact upon our reputation or position- As appropriate compiling regular reports and insights measuring both the outputs against plans and outcomes against objectives**What do I need?**To be considered for this role, you will have broad experience of the energy sector and specifically, excellent working knowledge of the broader context of the Spanish and EU policy landscape and the main issues and developments that may impact SSERs future operations in Spain, and other Southern European countries, including Italy, Greece and France.We would love you to have:- Experience of and the ability to achieve business goals through excellence in policy development, communication and influencing of key stakeholders- Expert experience in public policy development, stakeholder engagement and/or a similarly strategic role, ideally with a broad understanding of the media landscape and experience of managing PR and PA consultancies- First class interpersonal skills to initiate leads, build, improve and maintain external contacts and establish strong working relationships to seek cooperation from, influence or motivate others to help resolve problems- Professional fluency in Spanish and English.
