The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research centre of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

Functions

He / She will conduct postdoctoral research on the mechanisms of arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation in experimental models as well as in-vitro human ones (iPSC-CMs). He / She will participate in studies on cellular electrophysiology, epigenetics, molecular biology, imaging, and biomarkers of atrial fibrillation progression. This position may be funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Grant Agreement number : GA-965286, acronym : MAESTRIA)

Mandatory Requirements
  • PhD in area of life sciences.
  • Minimum experience of 8 years in biomedical research centers.
Valuable Requirements
  • C1. Expertise and knowledge in cellular electrophysiology (patch-clamp) on isolated adult cardiomyocytes and iPSC-CMs, calcium imaging by confocal microscopy in intact and permeabilized cells, echocardiography, MRI, and cardiac electrophysiology in experimental models.
  • C2. Expertise in isolating cardiomyocytes from experimental models.
  • C3. Expertise and knowledge in experimental models surgery for the generation of models of cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure (TAC, heart infarction, etc.).
  • C4. Expertise in the mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial and ventricular fibrillation.
  • C5. Expertise and knowledge in the construction of adeno-associated viruses (AAV) for in vivo intravenous gene transfection in experimental models, and in protein immunolocalization using fluorescence microscopy.
  • C6. Advanced expertise and knowledge of cell biology, transfections, immortalization, proliferation assays, etc., especially focused on genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and epigenetics.
  • C7. Expertise and knowledge of experimental biochemistry and molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, Western blot, etc.).
  • C8. Interview.

Recruiment Plan

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, sets forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (“concurso”), the competition (“concurso-oposición”) must be the recruitment system”.

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (“concurso”) including a personal interview.

At least the 3 candidates with the highest score, as long as they reach the minimum of 65 points as a sum of criteria (C1-C7), will be interviewed. The three candidates with the highest score will be hired given the candidate reaches at least total score (C1-C8) of 80 points.
