Overview

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Data Engineer in European Union.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving a modern, cloud-based data platform. You will design and implement domain-oriented data products, optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensure scalable, high-performance data processing across multiple teams and applications. Working with cutting-edge AWS technologies, you will help build a robust data lake and support near real-time reporting and analytics. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to automation and CI/CD practices, and help define the future of a data mesh architecture. You will have a hands-on impact on both infrastructure and data solutions, operating in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment.

Accountabilities
  • Design and implement a data mesh architecture, exposing domain-owned data products through APIs.
  • Build and maintain AWS-based data lake solutions using S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Athena, and Redshift.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue and PySpark for batch and streaming workloads.
  • Implement AWS DMS pipelines to support near real-time analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to deliver robust, reusable data solutions.
  • Ensure data governance, quality, observability, and API best practices are followed.
  • Contribute to automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to evolve the data platform.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering with ownership of complex data systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS data lake technologies (S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Athena, Redshift).
  • Understanding of data mesh principles and decentralized data architecture.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with data modeling, workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree, infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation), event-driven architectures (Kafka, Kinesis), data cataloging and metadata management, knowledge of GDPR/HIPAA, agile and DevOps practices.
Benefits
  • Remote-first work environment within the European Union.
  • Flexible working hours and collaborative, innovative team culture.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge cloud data technologies and large-scale data systems.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, training, and skill development.
  • Participation in shaping and evolving a modern data platform with a data mesh architecture.
  • Inclusive and diverse work environment with a focus on employee well-being.
