Centro Canalejas Madrid, S.L.U. (“ CCM ” or the “ Company ”) is the new gathering place in the city of Madrid. CCM’s business is composed of three business units that operate independently but coordinated : the Four Seasons hotel, Galería Canalejas and the Car Park.
We are seeking for a Legal Manager, full time and immediate incorporation, who will be based in Madrid and will provide legal advice to the three business units and corporate teams. Reporting to the General Directors, this position requires providing legal advice and support across a broad range of areas, including corporate, compliance, contractual, financing, public law, and litigation matters, as well as managing CCM’s litigation proceedings and ensuring legal compliance.
Responsibilities
- Corporate : Provide legal advice and general support of the Company's corporate activities.
- Compliance : General knowledge of General Data Protection Regulation, Criminal compliance and Money Laundry prevention. General knowledge of Intellectual Property management.
- Contractual : supervise, monitor and manage all legal processes in order to avoid risks and claims, ensuring compliance with the proposals made and the interest of the Company in such situations. Deal with the commercial Real Estate agreements, including not only lease contracts but also suppliers matters.
- Financing : to be able to supervise, monitor and manage and / or coordinate financing transactions connection with the business of the Company.
- Public Law : to coordinate and be able to form an opinion in administrative law matters, in order to advise to the managing team.
- Litigation : a general knowledge in litigation is required in order to analyze, advise and prepare a response, where appropriate, to requirements or claims received from clients, suppliers, public administrations, courts, etc., in which legal advice is necessary to resolve them.
- Labour : coordination of labour compliance matters with the external labour lawyer and internal labour manager.
Other tasks :
- To provide ongoing legal support to the businesses in a wide range of legal areas by applying advanced legal skills, experience, and professional judgement, involving external counsel when required.
- To provide recommendations of legal strategy for management regarding key legal developments and to play an active role in the development and implementation of efficient, legally compliant and commercially focused business strategies. Direct relationship with the General Managers. It is important to play an active role and have initiative.
- To provide support corporate deals, and legal advice in respect of CCM’s interests, when required.
- To advise on legal risks, interpretation of legislation and negotiation of commercial agreements and transactions, proposing legally sound and pragmatic solutions to achieve strategic business goals and objectives, and in general solving all sorts of complex problems.
- To handle cases autonomously and use judgement to escalate key decision points, identifying the potential impact on CCM, as required.
- To manage legal proceedings, including coordination with external lawyers, budgeting and reporting.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
- 10+ years post-qualification experience thereof minimum 3 years of experience in a recognized standing law firm.
- Ability to prioritize conflicting demands, operate effectively against short timelines and provide prompt and commercially focused advice.
- Knowledge and experience in Corporate / Contractual and Real Estate.
- Client counselling and an ability to manage teams and advising on commercial legal matters.
- Negotiating commercial agreements.
- Managing litigation and assessing legal and commercial risk in difficult situations.
- Experience in compliance matters.
- Lawyer qualified in Spain.
- Excellent English language skills, including the ability to draft legal documentation accurately in English.
Salary includes a fixed and variable component, and will be determined based on the candidate's experience.
