Greenvolt Next Holding is looking for a Contract Senior Manager who will play a critical role in safeguarding the contractual and commercial interests of the organization across large-scale EPC and PPA projects. Acting as the primary advisor to the CEO DG, Country Manager and Project Director, this role is responsible for interpreting contractual obligations, managing variation and claim processes, coordinating risk management activities, and ensuring contractual compliance with clients and subcontractors.

This role will be based in Lisboa or Madrid with 30% Minimum travelling time.

With a deep understanding of international contract standards such as FIDIC and NEC3, the Contract Senior Manager provides expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle — from contract execution to final claim resolution — ensuring timely and effective communication with stakeholders. The role also drives risk identification and mitigation, supports strategic decision-making, and promotes contractual awareness across multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert interpretation of contracts and subcontracts, advising the Project Director and project teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risk exposures.
  • Draft and coordinate contractual correspondence to clients and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project strategy and legal standards.
  • Lead the preparation of variation proposals (RFPs) and value engineering proposals (VEPs), ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Manage the development and defence of claims, including extensions of time (EOT), disturbance costs, and other entitlements under the main contract and subcontracts.
  • Establish and maintain robust records to support variation and claim substantiation.
  • Educate and guide project teams on contractual obligations and best practices, fostering a culture of contractual awareness and accountability.
  • Own and coordinate the Risk & Opportunities process in all DG BU’s, including preparation of risk deliverables and internal R&O registers.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and management plans in all DG BU’s.
  • Interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including legal, engineering, and construction teams, as well as clients and subcontractors.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, or related discipline; postgraduate or legal qualifications are a plus.

Minimum of 15 years’ experience in contract and commercial management within large-scale EPC and PPA contract included IFRS 16 rules.

Demonstrated ability to manage high-value contracts and complex claims in international, multi-stakeholder environments.

Strong familiarity with industry-standard project management and risk management tools.

Contractual Expertise: In-depth knowledge of international construction contracts, especially FIDIC (Yellow Book) and NEC3.

Claims & Variations Management: Proven experience preparing and defending complex contractual claims, including EOT, loss and expense, and change orders.

Risk Management: Strong understanding of risk identification, mitigation, and documentation within project frameworks.

Commercial Acumen: Ability to manage and assess contractual financial implications and ensure commercial outcomes.

Negotiation Skills: Skilled negotiator with the ability to achieve win-win outcomes with clients and subcontractors.

Languages: Proficient in English (required) and at least two of the following: Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French.
