The Leibniz Institute DSMZ‑German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH, Braunschweig, Germany, offers a position as a Bioinformatician / Research Software Engineer (m/f/d). The position is funded by the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and is part of the DZIF infrastructure Bioresources, Biodata and Digital Health (https://www.dzif.de/en/infrastructures). The appointment will be initially for 3 years and subject to extension based on a positive interim evaluation. The salary‑level will be up to TV‑L 13, according to personal qualification. The position is offered full time and is not appropriate for part‑time work. Starting date will be as soon as possible.
We develop databases for pathogen genome sequences and associated metadata to support microbiologists, clinicians and epidemiologists with access to data and standardized analytical services. Your tasks will include the development and maintenance of databases based on the EnteroBase platform (https://enterobase.dsmz.de/), their integration with other databases (e.g. DSMZ Digital Diversity resources, European Nucleotide Archive) and the implementation of pipelines for bioinformatics analysis (e.g. for long‑read sequencing data). The job requires close interaction with collaboration partners, both national and international.
