Job Overview
A full-time Clinical Pharmacist is needed to provide services within the U.S. Army Medical Command, Regional Health Command Europe, and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including the US Navy and US Air Forces in Europe.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's or Doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.
- Board certification in one or more pharmacy specialties recognized by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties, or completion of an accredited clinical pharmacy residency or fellowship, or documentation of appropriate education, training, and CME in clinical pharmacy.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of retail, hospital, or military pharmacy experience, with 12 months of recent experience within the last three (3) years. Working knowledge of computers, including internet, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Windows OS.
- Certifications: A current, valid, unrestricted pharmacy license in any U.S. state or territory. Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NRP by the American Heart Association or Red Cross prior to contract start.
- Public Health clearance including immunization records and physical health certification showing proof of immunizations against Hepatitis A and B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, and a recent TB test or chest x-ray.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assessing patient responses to drug therapy and planning accordingly.
- Ordering and evaluating lab tests for drug therapy effects.
- Managing medications for chronic diseases in cooperation with medical staff.
- Monitoring and adjusting pharmacotherapy as needed.
- Initiating or modifying treatments for minor acute conditions.
- Administering drugs following protocols.
- Assessing nutritional needs and ordering nutritional products.
- Reviewing medical and medication histories for drug-related issues.
- Collaborating with healthcare providers on patient treatment.
- Monitoring medication therapy through patient profile reviews.
- Ensuring appropriate prescription instructions and intervening on discrepancies.
- Compounding medications as needed.
- Developing patient wellness programs with clinical staff.
- Supervising pharmaceutical inventory and ensuring pharmacy security.
- Facilitating drug utilization reviews.
