Your tasks include:
The successful candidate should represent the field of organelle biology in research and teaching. Candidates are expected to have a proven track record of outstanding research achievements in respect to their academic career stage in the field of plastid homeostasis with a focus on protein, metabolite, lipid or redox homeostasis. The main model system should be an eukaryotic microalga, but in addition to that a land plant can also be included. In addition, research approaches on the use of microalgae for biotechnological applications using synthetic biology are welcome.
Your profile:
The thematic focus should strengthen the faculty’s existing research priorities in membrane and systems biology. In particular, the strengthening of our new TR-CRC initiative “Organellostasis” is expected, in which mechanisms for the maintenance of homeostasis in chloroplasts and mitochondria are investigated. Furthermore, a fit to one of the specializations of the English-language Master's degree program in biology is required. A very good publication record and the basis for an internationally competitive research profile are expected for the career path to date. In addition, very good didactic skills are expected, depending on the specific thematic focus and commitment to teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's programs. Teaching responsibilities may be fulfilled in either German or English.
The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the RPTU advocate a supervision concept in which a high degree of presence at the university location is expected. In addition to the general service requirements, the hiring requirements regulated in § 54 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act apply.
