A leading humanitarian organization is looking for a UX / UI Designer to enhance their mobile applications and visual identity. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and the world’s largest humanitarian organization. WFP is investing in and growing private sector fundraising and partnerships. Serving as a broker between WFP and the private sector, WFP’s Private Partnerships and Fundraising Division (PSP) strives to mobilize funding, technical assistance, innovative solutions and visibility. ShareTheMeal is WFP’s fundraising and awareness-raising app, launched in 2015, that enables people to join the effort in creating a world with zero hunger. The app has more than 9.3 million users worldwide and has shared more than 160 million meals. WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy, aiming to increase funds raised by developing new features and engaging users through marketing and communication initiatives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead with the Head of Product and the Product Managers the development of a state-of-the-art UX/UI:
    • Design user journeys based on the needs and constraints of users and context of use.
    • Develop wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, animations and mockups for new or optimized features.
    • Gather and validate business and end-user requirements.
    • Prepare and iterate visual assets and pixel-perfect layout specifications for native mobile apps and web, working closely with developers and QA.
    • Ensure usability principles and UX best practices are followed; define specifications for interface behaviours.
    • Test designs with end users at different stages of development and refine interfaces to minimise fixes and rework.
    • Provide quality assurance on correct implementation of interface designs and behaviours.
  • Continue to develop and implement a strong visual identity for ShareTheMeal.
  • Maintain strong coordination with the Communications Advocacy and Marketing Division (CAM) and the Information Technology Division (TEC) on visual branding, Human‑Centered Design, UI Guidelines and other standards.
  • Train and support junior designers in conducting user research on new concepts, including 1:1 interviews with donors for deeper insights.

  • Ongoing development of UX/UI elements.
  • Cohesive visual identity across all channels.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
  • Work History: At least 4 years of progressively responsible national or international experience.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • 4 years of experience researching, conceiving and designing world‑class mobile UX and native Android and iOS UI; experience in responsive web design is a plus.
    • Strong visual design sense, deep knowledge of usability principles and a creative attitude aimed at perfect user‑centered design.
    • Deep knowledge of design tools: Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, After Effects, Zeplin, InVision.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Bold, energetic, self‑driven team player with a passion for social issues.
    • Fully committed and motivated to achieve WFP’s aims.
    • Highly organised with exceptional planning skills.
    • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
    • Excellent communicator able to collaborate across cultures, disciplines and time zones.

  • Languages:
    • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
    • Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).
