Overview

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we shape the technologies and processes for the future of digital production, packaging and scanning technology, and many other laser-based applications, such as 3D printing and laser fusion. The position is for a student assistant (m/f/d) on-site in Aachen as part of the #OneTeam.

What you will do
  • You will be responsible for the preparation and execution of experiments
  • Additionally, you will take care of the careful preparation of samples in the chemistry laboratory
  • Operating class 4 lasers will be part of your tasks – while doing so, you will gain valuable practical experience in laser technology
  • You will be involved in the production of conductive thin films using inkjet and aerosoljet printers
  • Additionally, the laser-based transfer of layers using the LIFT process is part of your responsibilities
  • Lastly, you will analyze samples and document the results
What you bring to the table
  • You are studying electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, or a comparable field
  • You bring a careful, structured, and independent work style as well as motivation towards technical questions and research
  • Initial practical experience in the laboratory is desirable
  • Knowledge or experience in laser technology, electronics, micro- and nanomaterials, and CNC machines is beneficial
  • A basic understanding of programming or a programming language is desirable, along with experience with Python or other software for data analysis

Remuneration and contract details

The remuneration is based on the overall company agreement regarding the employment of assistants. The weekly working hours amount to 12 hours and will be individually agreed upon in the interview. The position is initially limited to 12 months; a longer-term student assistant position is aimed for.
