Jobbeschreibung

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Data Engineer (m/f/d) in Germany.

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and operational excellence of advanced machine learning systems. In this role, you will shape the technical vision for ML pipelines, ensuring that models are robust, scalable, and production-ready. You will lead a small team of engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment. This role combines hands‑on expertise in data platforms, MLOps, and distributed computing with strategic oversight, making a tangible impact on the scalability and reliability of ML‑driven solutions. You will work in a dynamic, international environment that values innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and operation of end‑to‑end ML pipelines, including training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Build and manage feature stores, model‑serving infrastructure, and drift detection frameworks.
  • Design and operate parallel ETL/data pipelines that transform raw inputs into clean, production‑ready datasets with clear service level objectives.
  • Ensure dataset reliability, lineage, and quality for production ML workflows.
  • Set technical standards, review architecture and code, and mentor engineers across the team.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable ML/data solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, incident response, and cost/performance optimization.
  • Lead and support a small engineering team, fostering growth, performance, and collaboration.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience building and deploying end‑to‑end ML solutions, ideally in a SaaS environment.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and guide engineers, including mentoring and team development experience.
  • Strong expertise in MLOps, distributed computing frameworks, and parallel ETL pipelines.
  • Advanced Python programming skills and experience with ML libraries (NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, Pydantic).
  • Hands‑on experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) and cloud‑based data processing.
  • Demonstrated track record of designing scalable, production‑ready ML systems.
  • Preferred: experience with TensorBoard, large‑scale simulation or forecasting systems, and domain knowledge in retail/CPG data, pricing, or revenue management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in an international, dynamic team environment.
Benefits
  • Dynamic and international work environment with opportunities for meaningful impact.
  • Remote‑first work model with optional visits to headquarters in Cologne.
  • Learning and development budget to enhance professional skills.
  • Language lessons and personal development programs.
  • Urban Sports Club membership and Deutschlandticket.
  • Regular company events and career growth opportunities.
