Sr. Prototype Driver, Vehicle Development and Test Europe

As a Sr. Prototype Driver, Vehicle Development and Test Europe, reporting to the Manager for Vehicle Development and Test Europe, you will be assigned a range of duties, including instrumentation of vehicles for testing in various disciplines (dynamics, durability, noise and vibration, performance). You will work with engineers and technicians to solve data acquisition problems and support various engineering prototype builds.

The ideal candidate demonstrates excellence in past roles, with creativity in resolving mechanical problems, diagnosing faults, and implementing vehicle test hardware.

You Will:

  • Test drive and evaluate test vehicles on real-world driving situations on test routes/tracks, conduct safety inspections, perform specialized test procedures and document findings in driver reports.
  • Recreate driving scenarios in controlled and field tests and provide feedback to the engineering team.
  • Perform vehicle checks, maintenance and keep vehicles prepared for field testing daily.
  • Manual data collection and driving including mapping drives and final data verification drives.
  • Drive prototype vehicles on various public and private roads to obtain data and troubleshoot issues.
  • Build and follow processes for the teams, document potential issues and improvements.
  • Support diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles and bench systems.
  • Assist with installation, upgrade, calibration and configuration of sensors, ECUs, etc.
  • Work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team on prototype, pre-production, show, and production vehicles.

You Are:

  • Valid driver’s license with at least 8 years of driving experience and a clean driving record (DMV record will be obtained).
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather conditions, including rain.
  • Safety-sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity to be drug free.
  • Able to drive for prolonged periods routinely exceeding eight hours.
  • Willing to work flexible hours including weekends and possible overtime.
  • Good vision, hearing and motor skills. Alertness and good driving instinct to monitor automated vehicle performance.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate GPS.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong learning ability and adaptability in a dynamic startup environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience working on fully electric vehicles
  • Professional race team experience
  • Fabrication and wiring experience
  • Luxury automotive technician experience
