At AWS, we're looking for a Developer Advocate to shape the future of software development and AI in the DACH region. As a Senior Developer Advocate on our Developer Experience team, you'll combine your software development expertise with your passion for building and nurturing developer communities across German‑speaking countries. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence how the next generation of applications are built, with a strong focus on open source technologies, AI coding assistants and agentic AI, while working alongside creators and innovators in this rapidly evolving space.

Key job responsibilities
  • Drive technical initiatives that showcase modern software development practices, emphasizing the integration of open source technologies with AWS services.
  • Create and deliver compelling technical content in German and English through conference talks, workshops, and live coding sessions.
  • Build and nurture developer communities across the DACH region, with a particular focus on professional developers and students.
  • Develop and share best practices for building modern applications using open source technologies and cloud services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to influence product roadmaps based on DACH developer community feedback.
  • Create regional content including code samples, architecture patterns, blog posts and implementation guides.
  • Engage with open source communities and maintain strong presence in regional developer networks.
  • Work with local partners, educational institutions and open source organizations to grow the next generation of developers.

Basic Qualifications
  • Native‑level German language skills and fluent English.
  • 5 years experience in software development in professional environments.
  • Strong understanding of open source ecosystems and community dynamics.
  • Experience with modern development tools and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active contributor to open source AI projects.
  • Track record of community building and developer advocacy.
  • History of technical content creation (blogs, talks, videos, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS knowledge a plus).
  • Understanding of the DACH region’s technical ecosystem.
  • Experience in organizing or leading open source initiatives or events.
  • Willingness to travel within the DACH region.
