We are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading technology-driven organization, for a SQL Server DBA role. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced database administrator to contribute to complex database migrations and performance optimization projects. The role is fully remote and open to candidates across Europe.

Job Details:

• Employment Type: Vendor Contract / Full-Time

• Duration: Initial 6 months with possible extension

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and optimize SQL Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012, and later database environments.

• Plan and execute SQL Server migrations from AWS RDS/EC2 and on-prem environments to on-prem data centers.

• Assess database environments to determine optimal migration strategies (backup/restore, replication, log shipping, etc.).

• Conduct pre-migration analysis, compatibility checks, and performance benchmarking.

• Design and implement high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.

• Troubleshoot and optimize database performance post-migration to ensure minimal downtime.

• Work closely with infrastructure, network, and application teams to ensure seamless migrations.

• Automate migration tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL scripts, and other tools.

• Maintain documentation on migration strategies, rollback plans, and best practices.

• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in SQL Server administration, migration, and performance tuning.

• Expertise in SQL Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012, and later versions.

• Strong experience migrating databases from AWS RDS/EC2 and on-prem environments.

• Proficiency in migration techniques: backup/restore, log shipping, transactional replication, Always On Availability Groups.

• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their impact on database architecture.

• Knowledge of networking, security, and storage in database migrations.

• Strong skills in T‑SQL, PowerShell, and automation scripting.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and optimize queries.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Performance Monitor.

• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Kafka and data processing pipelines.

• SQL Server certifications are highly desirable.
