Lightspeed is looking for a Python Developer to join our team. As a Backend developer, you will support Lightspeed's Hospitality product group on the mission to expand our reach into new markets and countries while enhancing our advanced hospitality commerce platform.

For this role specifically, you will join our Recommendations Squad. In this team, you will play a key part in developing and optimizing recommendation algorithms, building scalable APIs, and integrating various systems into our products. You will collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to create high-quality, personalized experiences for our users.

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Design, develop, and maintainscalable and efficientbackend systems using Python.
• Implement and optimizerecommendation algorithmsto enhance user experience.
• Develop and maintain robustAPIsand microservices for seamless system integration.
• Work withdata engineers and machine learning teamsto process and utilize large datasets effectively.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and enhance development practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring system reliability and scalability.
• Extending your very own skills by learning from and growing with the team.

What you’ll be bringing to the team:

• 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Python.
• Strong English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of scalability, performance optimization, and distributed systems.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL or DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of monitoring applications for performance and reliability
• Hands-on experience with Kafka.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to clean code, maintainability, and systematic correctness.

Even better if you have, but not necessary:

• Experience working with recommendation systems, machine learning models, or data-driven applications.
• Experience in Agile development environments.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, TCP, TLS, etc.).
• Proficiency with CI/CD systems, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud environments like AWS or GCP.
• Computer Science degree or equivalent.
