European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.

For our Undulator Systems Software Engineering Team group, we are looking for a

Software Developer (f/m/d)

The Position

• Working in close collaboration with other European XFEL and DESY groups to maintain and keep reliable operation of the undulator systems
• Development and maintenance of the software for the undulator systems
• Development and maintenance of undulator control system-related databases
• On-call duty to solve urgent issues related to the operation of the undulator systems

Requirements

• Degree in computing science or corresponding IT education
• Knowledge and 5+ years of experience in C and Python
• Knowledge of .NET framework, C#
• Experience with Oracle Database
• Experience with versioning and bug tracking tools (e.g. SVN, Git, JIRA)
• Experience or willingness to work with hardware engineers to track issues
• Knowledge of Beckhoff Automation Technology, TwinCAT, and PLC is considered an asset
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multilingual, multidisciplinary team with English as working language
