Your Tasks

As a Software Lead Engineer (m / f / d), you will take technical ownership of our software development – from architecture and design to implementation and process definition.

You lead and mentor a team of software engineers, ensure adherence to coding standards, and help shape the next generation of our communication and control systems.

Your responsibilities include :

• Technical leadership and mentoring of the software engineering team
• Defining and maintaining software architecture, design principles, and development standards
• Establishing and improving coding guidelines and software processes
• Planning and prioritizing development tasks in collaboration with the R&D Manager and Systems Engineer
• Designing and developing embedded software for communication and networking systems (e.g. acoustic modems, data fusion, control software)
• Performing code reviews and ensuring software quality and maintainability
• Close collaboration with electronics, systems, and test engineering teams
• Supporting test automation and continuous integration processes
• Contributing to technology roadmaps and long-term software strategy

Your Profile

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar
• Several years of experience in software development for embedded or communication systems
• Strong background in software architecture, design patterns, and modern development methodologies
• Proficiency in C / C++ (and ideally Matlab, Linux)
• Knowledge of communication protocols, networking, or digital signal processing
• Experience with software standards and guidelines (e.g. MISRA, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or similar)
• Experience in leading or mentoring technical teams
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and agile development environments
• Ideally, experience in underwater communication or marine technologies
• Fluent in English (German is a plus)
• Proactive mindset and passion for building reliable, elegant software systems
