Overview

Your role: Senior Financial Accountant with German in Berlin. Full accountability of statutory accounting for Plugsurfing GmbH, ensuring tax compliance and supporting business decisions. Report directly to the Head of Finance and collaborate with the finance team and external auditors.

How We Work

Hybrid environment: 2 days home office versus 3 days in office presence. Assigned workspace in the Berlin office. Company‑issued laptop, monitor, accessories, and remote access for home office days.

Responsibilities

• Lead statutory accounting for Plugsurfing entities within required timetables.
• Ensure full tax compliance, including VAT registrations in multiple jurisdictions.
• Lead the statutory monthly closing process and validate financial data.
• Work closely with the finance team to deliver high‑quality monthly financial information.
• Develop and maintain accounting processes to meet company targets and compliance requirements.
• Participate in and support audit activities and development projects.
• Serve as the key contact for auditors.
• Support the finance team with ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Fluent in German (C1–C2) both written and oral.
• Fluent in English (at least B2).
• Experienced financial accountant with a proven history of delivering accurate and compliant accounting performance.
• Mastery of German GAAP and familiarity with other accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS, Dutch GAAP, etc.).
• Strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and a can‑do attitude.
• Advanced user of Dynamics D365.
• Good understanding of German direct (CiT) and indirect (VAT) taxation; international VAT knowledge is a strong plus.
• Tolerance to uncertainty and adaptation to a quickly changing work environment; comfortable making decisions with limited information.
• Energetic, resourceful, and committed to getting the job done.
• Experience with payroll accounting is a plus.
• Previous experience with payment service providers (Adyen, Stripe, PayPal) is a plus.
• Experience with Datev, NetSuite, PowerBI and other analytics tools is a plus.
• Other ERP experience is welcome.
• Professional accounting qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, Bilanzbuchhalter) are strongly welcome.
