The Research Analyst is housed in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. The Research Analyst reports directly to the Director of Institutional Research and Planning. The Research Analyst is primarily responsible for serving as the central data source for requests, both external and internal, for information about the College; conduct data collection, statistical analysis, and present data. The analyst is also responsible for assisting and training users in college departments with accessing data, creating reports, reviewing data and interpreting the information.
Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to research, analysis, or computing from an accredited college or university required. Applicable experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the educational requirement. A minimum of two years of experience in data analysis is required.
Knowledge of and demonstrated competence in research processes, including data collection, analysis, standardized reporting, statistical reporting, and data presentation methods. Knowledge of and familiarity with the postsecondary educational environment in general is required. Knowledge of and familiarity with Community Colleges is highly desired. Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude while working under pressure. Ability to think analytically and logically and to use existing resources to troubleshoot data anomalies or issues, and to identify and implement creative solutions to problems. Ability to design and complete complex analytical projects. Ability to work both as a team member and independently, working with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the College. Skills using and developing spreadsheets is highly desired, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Relational skills using databases such as SAS, SQL, and procedural programming languages are helpful. Skill in communicating orally and in writing including the ability to communicate clearly with staff, colleagues and researchers; Skill in communicating technical information in a clear and concise manner.
