Black Engineers of Canada (BEC) is a non‑profit professional organization dedicated to creating a safe environment for Black engineers to aspire and become a better version of themselves. The Job

We are searching for a Regional Partnership Director (Volunteer) who will dedicate 10 hours weekly of volunteer time.

The Regional Partnership Director (Volunteer) plays a crucial role in building, managing, and nurturing relationships with external partners to support BEC’s mission and goals. The primary responsibility is to develop strategic alliances, secure funding, and create long‑term partnerships that advance the organization’s programs and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnership Strategy Development
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive partnership strategy to identify and engage potential partners that align with BEC’s mission and strategic objectives.
  • Research and analyze trends in the nonprofit sector to inform partnership‑building efforts.
  • Create a pipeline of prospective partners, including corporations, foundations, educational institutions, and government agencies.
  • Lead and attain regional targets/goals for the formation of successful partnerships as well as signing of funding MoUs within the agreed cycle period.
Relationship Building and Management
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, ensuring open and effective communication.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to cultivate relationships that align with BEC’s priorities and objectives.
Fundraising and Resource Development
  • Identify and pursue partnership opportunities that result in funding, sponsorships, or in‑kind donations.
  • Collaborate with the development team to align partnership efforts with fundraising goals.
  • Develop proposals, presentations, and partnership agreements tailored to the needs and goals of potential partners.
Program Collaboration and Development
  • Work with internal teams to design and implement programs or initiatives in collaboration with partners.
  • Ensure that partnership activities align with BEC’s mission and create measurable impact.
  • Collaborate with program directors to ensure partner involvement in relevant projects.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
  • Plan and execute partner engagement activities, such as events, workshops, and roundtable discussions.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other networking opportunities to strengthen partnerships.
  • Communicate regularly with partners to provide updates on the impact of their involvement and contributions.
Monitoring and Reporting
  • Track and report on partnership performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, including fulfillment of sponsor/partner obligations.
  • Provide regular reports to the Executive Director and board of directors on partnership developments and impact.
Brand Awareness and Advocacy
  • Act as an ambassador for the organization, raising awareness about its mission, programs, and initiatives.
  • Work with the marketing and communications team to promote partnerships through social media, newsletters, and other channels.
Subcommittee Team Leadership and Collaboration
  • Manage a team of partnership subcommittee, interns, or volunteers as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., program, communications, finance) to ensure successful partnership execution.
  • Mentor and train staff on partnership development best practices.
Qualifications
  • Interest in supporting community, social, or charitable initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in partnership development, fundraising, corporate relations, or a similar role within a nonprofit or community‑based organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in securing and managing high‑level partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, including corporations, foundations, government agencies, and other nonprofits.
  • Strong relationship‑building, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans and execute them effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing proposals and presentations.
  • Fluent communication in English and if in Quebec – English & French.
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies, grant writing, and sponsorship acquisition will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of using CRM software and other tools to track partnerships and donor engagement will be a strong asset.
