We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is pivotal in advancing our Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the underlying physics and operational principles of FOGs and their constituent components. You will play a crucial role in the design, development, testing, and manufacturing scale-up of our cutting-edge FOG-based navigation systems. What you\'ll do
- Lead the design and development of FOG and related systems for outstanding performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Develop and refine manufacturing processes for FOGs, with a key focus on scalability to large production volumes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and production, to ensure seamless product development and integration
- Analyse test data, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance FOG performance and reliability
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in FOG technology, photonics, and relevant manufacturing techniques
- Contribute to a customer-centric approach by ensuring our FOG technology meets and exceeds customer expectations in demanding applications
- Develop and establish efficient processes for testing fibre optic coils
- Develop capability for additional processes such as coil stress conditioning
- Support and guide the Production Engineering team to develop performance metrics and SPC measures
- Guide design and development of fibre optic coil related process tooling
Qualification, skills and experience
- Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in the field of Fiber Optic Gyroscopes
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of FOG physics, including the Sagnac effect and associated phenomena
- In-depth knowledge of photonics, including light sources, optical fibers, couplers, modulators, and detectors relevant to FOGs
- Solid background in electro-optical systems design and integration
- Demonstrable experience with manufacturing processes for optical or precision electro-mechanical systems, particularly with an understanding of challenges related to large-scale production
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a commitment to taking ownership and accountability
