We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Operations Director to lead the deployment of our strategy across all sites in Germany. This role is critical in driving sustainable operational improvements, achieving financial targets, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and performance excellence. The Operations Director is the line manager for the Site Directors and reports into the Managing Director Germany.

What you’ll do on a typical day
  • Lead the Site Directors ensuring delivery of key activities in a timely manner and within budget
  • Work closely with the Management Team to ensure the delivery of revenue and profit targets
  • Constantly review service performance for each account to ensure that the contractual obligations are being met and the customers are satisfied
  • Ensure that the company’s values and vision are achieved through the development of an open, interactive and communicative culture
  • Maintain key customer relationships at all levels to ensure the smooth running of the account as well as seek opportunities for growth
  • Identify opportunities to add value to existing operations through innovation, technology and continuous improvement
  • Regularly review and define the capability required in the team and generate career progression opportunities for individuals who have the potential to develop
What you need to be successful
  • Significant experience of managing complex or prestigious logistics contracts
  • Proven track record of project management and large‑scale implementations at a senior‑management level
  • In‑depth operational understanding of operations and warehousing; transportation knowledge is a plus
  • Strong financial acumen demonstrating excellent budget control
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, a customer‑focused approach, and ability to build strong working relationships with customers
  • Ability to understand and analyse complex issues, making effective decisions
  • Constantly challenge current ways of thinking in a search for improvement
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strategic thinking and active contribution to business plans efficiently and effectively
  • English and German verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong MS Office skills and the ability to learn new IT systems quickly; ability to analyse data, recognise trends, anticipate problems and draw sound conclusions
