Overview

Mechanical Construction Superintendent

Location – Wessling, Germany

Duration – 9 months

This role is 100% site based in Wessling, Germany and requires fluent knowledge in oral and written German and a good understanding of the English language. It is open to self-employed candidates with the existing right to work in Germany.

Responsibilities

• Providing direction and support for Contractors, including monitoring, expediting and supervision activities.
• Coordinate construction activities with other superintendents and Contractors to ensure efficient, safe construction and productive work.
• Be conversant with the various types of engineering drawings and have a good overall understanding of discipline specifications.
• Audit and check that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes and standards, and that only trained, experienced personnel are used on project works.
• Promote a safe working environment on site with Contractors to ensure all HSSE goals are achieved.
• Evaluate Contractor competencies, procedures, staffing, and work processes and ensure they are maintained throughout the construction phase.
• Review Contractor method statements to ensure work will be performed in a controlled, safe, and productive manner.
• Implement and enforce policies, procedures, and related work rules.
• Support the operation of the Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) system.
• Coordinate effectively the work area requirements for multiple Contractors.

General

• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Attend construction/Contractor meetings when required.
• Carry out daily reviews and maintain a daily log of construction activity.
• Ensure the satisfactory operation and maintenance of Contractor temporary facilities.
• Knowledge of German mechanical industry specifications, codes, and standards.
• Monitor Contractor and inspect mechanical work.
• Coordinate work area requirements for multiple Contractors.
• Demonstrate leadership skills and perform duties with minimal direction.
• Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
