Jobbeschreibung

Permanent employee, full-time • Berlin, Potsdam

Overview

“Make the world a healthier place” is our goal at Data4Life. We, the Communications team, ensure that we achieve this goal quickly and never lose sight of it, thereby generating impact in the healthcare sector in Germany and beyond.

To support our Communications team, we are looking for a committed individual for the position of Junior Communications and Content Manager. The position is full-time, based in Berlin and Potsdam, and offers the option of hybrid working.

About the role

As Junior Communications & Content Manager, you’ll help shape the way Data4Life communicates its digital research solutions, infrastructure projects, and impact initiatives to the outside world.

  • From social media to web content, from visual storytelling to classic press work — your role spans all key channels and formats that bring our work into the public sphere.
  • You’ll support the strategic visibility of our open-source tools, flagship programs (like the Research Credits Program), and collaborative efforts with research institutions.
  • Beyond classic content formats, this role has a strong focus on visual and audiovisual storytelling. You will translate complex public health, research, and digital infrastructure topics into engaging visual narratives — from short videos and webcasts to photo-based stories and explainers.
  • A genuine interest in the content itself is essential: understanding public health, digital health, research processes, or data-driven innovation is a key part of the role. You should actively engage with and shape messages, not just package them.
  • You’ll work closely with the Communications Lead, product and science teams, and external partners to transform complex topics into clear content, and you’ll take ownership of operational tasks like website management and post scheduling — with growth toward a versatile content and channel lead.
  • This is a learning-friendly role with space to explore: ideal for someone with a sharp eye for detail, a creative mindset, and a genuine interest in digital health and public interest tech.
Your future role
  • Cross-channel Content Creation – Write and edit content across formats: LinkedIn posts, web copy, articles, newsletter, webcast with KOLs; create and adapt visuals using Adobe Creative Cloud tools; develop press releases, event announcements, and outreach kits in coordination with the team; contribute ideas for new formats — from carousels to motion graphics to interview snippets.
  • Website & CMS (Kirby) – Keep key content areas up to date: research programs, tools, news, landing pages; optimize layout, navigation, and accessibility; coordinate translations and adaptations for international audiences.
  • Social Media & Visual Communication – Support planning and scheduling for LinkedIn (and Instagram, upcoming); ensure visual consistency and tone of voice; monitor engagement and contribute to building a credible, warm presence; support planning, production, and editing of short-form and long-form video content; edit videos using Adobe Premiere Pro (or equivalent) for web and social channels; support photography and basic film production for events, interviews, and internal projects; collaborate on storyboards, scripts, and visual concepts with the Communications Lead; ensure high-quality content editing and narrative coherence; repurpose video and photo material across channels.
  • Newsletter & Webcast Support – Prepare and test email campaigns; help produce webcasts and short-form video updates; support content repurposing for different platforms.
  • Program Visibility (e.g., Research Credits Program) – Help shape communication around calls, awards, and results; collaborate with product, science, and partnership teams to surface stories; track engagement, manage mailing lists, and support targeted outreach.
  • Analytics & Reporting – Help set up and maintain performance tracking across key channels; support implementation of tools like Meta Pixel, Matomo, Google Analytics, and Search Console; monitor and summarize platform performance (SEO, engagement, reach); use LinkedIn Analytics to evaluate and optimize content formats; contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting routines and insights for the team.
What you need to succeed
  • A degree or hands-on experience in communication, journalism, media design, and experience in science communication or public health.
  • Initial experience in content creation, editorial work, or digital marketing.
  • Prior experience in digital health, open infrastructure, and communication for science.
  • Strong writing skills in English (German is a plus).
  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or Express).
  • Curiosity for web platforms and CMS (Kirby is a plus; WordPress or others welcome).
  • A structured, self-motivated and collaborative way of working.
Why you will love working with us
  • A purpose-driven role at the intersection of science, design, and technology.
  • Involvement in international research and digital public infrastructure projects.
  • Mentoring and space to develop your content and platform skills.
  • A collaborative team and flexible, remote-friendly setup.
  • Insights into long-term strategy and real-world program building.
  • Room to grow and contribute ideas that make an impact.
Good to know
  • We especially welcome applicants from the LGBTQI+ community, people with a migration background, people of color, and individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses to the team.
  • We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences to our international team, offering equal opportunities to be themselves and develop.
  • If you need support or special assistance during the application or interview process due to a disability, please let us know and we will accommodate you as much as possible.
  • In this position you will be working from our Berlin/Potsdam office.
  • Please submit your CV, motivation letter, and a portfolio demonstrating your marketing expertise. Your portfolio may include social media campaigns, graphics, videos, visual content, articles, and other relevant marketing materials.
