We are exclusively mandated to recruit a German‑speaking Associate / Senior Associate (m/f/d) for a highly successful, entrepreneurial small‑to‑mid‑cap Private Equity fund based in Amsterdam.

About the Firm

Our client is an established European private equity investor focused on control‑oriented majority investments in profitable mid‑market companies, typically with revenues of up to €150m. The firm has a strong track record across Industrials, Software / TMT, Business Services and Healthcare, without a strict sector bias.

The investment philosophy is hands‑on and fundamentals‑driven, with a clear emphasis on operational improvement, value creation and international growth strategies. The team works closely with management from deal sourcing through execution, active ownership and exit.

The Role

You will join a lean, high‑performing investment repeatedly and take real responsibility across the full investment lifecycle. This is a rare opportunity to enter private equity directly and develop into a fully‑fledged investment professional in an entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Execution & Investment Analysis

• Lead core workstreams on live transactions, including commercial, financial and operational analysis
• Build and review valuation models and investment cases
• Coordinate due diligence processes with advisors and internal stakeholders
• Prepare materials for Investment Committee discussions

Portfolio Engagement & Value Creation

• Work closely with portfolio company management teams on operational improvement and strategic initiatives
• Track KPIs, build performance dashboards and identify value‑creation levers
• Support transformation, growth and professionalisation projects across the portfolio

Origination & Deal Sourcing

• Support deal sourcing efforts across the DACH region and Benelux
• Conduct market mapping, subsector analysis and opportunity screening
• Build and maintain relationships with advisors, founders, intermediaries and industry experts

Collaboration

• Work directly with senior investment professionals on strategy, structuring and value‑creation planning
• Collaborate with operating partners and external advisors to validate assumptions and scalability

Candidate Profile

Experience

• 4+ years of professional experience (Associate to Senior Associate level)
• Background in M&A, Investment Banking, Transaction Services, Strategy Consulting, Corporate Development or Private Equity
• Strong analytical skills; hands‑on experience in modelling, valuation and due diligence
• Exposure to operational value creation or transformation projects is a plus

Skills & Attributes

• Native or fluent German speaker; strong English required (Dutch is a plus)
• Entrepreneurial mindset and strong fit with mid‑size companies
• Structured, commercially minded and able to build investment conviction independently
• Strong communication skills and maturity in interactions with management teams
• Willingness to travel within the DACH region

Education

• Outstanding academic background in finance, economics, business or a related field
