About the role:

At Hippo, we're transforming the insurance industry through innovative engineering, data, and operations. As a DevSecOps Engineer, you'll expand our product suite, support existing offerings, and lead security projects from concept to implementation. You will collaborate with stakeholders to design effective security protocols, secure microservices, and monitor threats.

We're seeking someone passionate about security design, project management, vulnerability detection, log analysis, and threat mitigation.

What will you do?

1. Collaborate with Security Engineers, Engineering Managers, and developers to create security designs and protocols, secure microservices, and monitor threats, requiring strong technical and communication skills.
2. Build a scalable, resilient security infrastructure for the Hippo platform.
3. Enhance developer productivity by integrating security tools into CI/CD pipelines and monitoring cloud environments.
4. Use Golang, Python, Bash, and other scripting languages to automate security operations, develop secure APIs, and create serverless security functions.
5. Work with cloud providers, databases, open-source tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and security tools such as CSPM, DSPM, WAF, ZTN, DAST, SAST, Vault.
6. Advocate for a security-first mindset within the DevOps team and organization, promoting best practices.
7. Take ownership of security projects, shaping processes from the ground up.
8. Share responsibilities with Senior DevOps Engineers for platform health and on-call duties.

• Have 6+ years of DevOps experience with a focus on security.
• Are proficient in Golang or Python.
• Have experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD systems.
• Understand AWS VPC or GCP networking, including security concepts.
• Are familiar with security frameworks like OWASP, NIST, SANS, and IDS/IPS systems.
• Have secured CDN configurations and defend against attack vectors like DDoS, cache poisoning.
• Know authentication protocols such as SAML, OIDC, OAuth.
• Are comfortable with security logging and metrics.
• Enjoy working in small, efficient teams.
• Have excellent English skills.
• Are available in the afternoons for team meetings, respecting work-life balance.

Extra points for:

• Certifications like CCSP, CSSLP, AWS certifications.
• Experience with compliance standards such as SOX 404(b), SOC2.
