At the Center for Islamic Theology (ZIT) at the University of Münster, the following position is available at the earliest possible date within the international research project “Dynamics in the Middle East – Politics, Society and Religion in Global Interactions”, directed by Prof. Dr. Mouhanad Khorchide.

Position

This is a part-time position (50%) limited to three years. The teaching load for a fulltime position is 4 teaching hours per week (SWS).

Responsibilities
  • Pursuit of a doctoral research project related to the thematic focus of the position
  • Collaboration in research and teaching activities
  • Coordination of the international research project “Dynamics in the Middle East – Politics, Society and Religion in Global Interactions”
  • Contribution to the content-related and organizational implementation of the project
  • Establishment and maintenance of networks with academic, civil society, religious, and political institutions in the Middle East, Europe, and the USA
  • Planning, organization, and implementation of academic events (workshops, conferences)
  • Editorial work in the preparation and publication of scholarly contributions
  • Support in the conceptual development and preparation of third-party funding applications
Qualifications
  • A completed Master’s degree with above-average results in Political Science, Islamic Studies, or a related field in the humanities that qualifies you for the academic coordination of the project “Dynamics in the Middle East – Politics, Society and Religion in Global Interactions”
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken (knowledge of German is an advantage but not a requirement)
  • Proven experience in organizing academic events
  • Willingness to travel abroad, particularly to countries in the Middle East (e.g., United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel) and to other non-European countries
  • Excellent communication skills in engaging with national and international partner institutions
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in carrying out assigned tasks
