Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Manager to partner closely with the Microsoft Germany Leadership Team and drive excellence across our Enterprise Commercial (EC) Account Team Unit. The Account Team Unit (ATU) at Microsoft is a customer-centric segment responsible for leading strategic engagements with Enterprise Commercial (EC) clients, driving digital transformation through consultative selling, and orchestrating cross-functional teams to deliver impactful business outcomes.

This role demands an experienced leader with deep sales execution experience, strong leadership acumen and the ability to inspire and orchestrate cross-functional teams toward ambitious business outcomes. The Business Manager of the ATU EC works closely with the ATU EC Leadership Team and acts as a strategic advisor and operational leader, responsible for translating corporate strategy into actionable plans, orchestrating the rhythm of business and driving organizational and cultural health the organization. Success in this role requires a balance of customer obsession, sales process discipline, financial acumen and transformational leadership. In strong partnership with the ATU EC Leadership Team, you will serve as a role model for Microsoft’s values, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities
  • Sales Leadership & Execution
    • Partner with Sales Managers and Solution Area Leaders to drive sales strategy, pipeline health, and forecast accuracy across revenue, consumption, and usage metrics.
    • Coach and advise on sales motions, including up-sell, cross-sell, and co-sell opportunities, ensuring alignment with other Microsoft segments for Solution Sales, Customer Success, Service Sales, Partner Collaboration and Sales Excellence & Operations.
    • Lead integrated customer planning and enforce sales process discipline to exceed growth targets.
    • Champion sales excellence initiatives, including account planning, quota landing and performance reviews.
  • Strategic Planning & Business Management
    • Translate corporate strategy into localized execution plans, aligning with EC leadership and segment priorities.
    • Lead long-term strategic planning and advocate for business cases to senior leadership.
    • Drive transformation initiatives and support organizational change management.
  • Rhythm of Business (RoB)
    • Own the leadership rhythm, including business reviews, strategy sessions, and performance evaluations.
    • Use business insights to predict outcomes and track execution of key initiatives.
    • Partner with Sales Excellence and Finance to ensure alignment across segments and functions.
  • Leadership Extension & Organizational Influence
    • Act as a trusted advisor to the EC Leader, providing thought leadership across communications, budget, industry insights, and team culture.
    • Influence decision-making through synthesized insights and strategic recommendations.
    • Represent EC as “One Microsoft” in cross-functional engagements and external-facing events.
    • Work on closing the Feedback Loop with Microsoft EMEA Organization and Microsoft Corporate ATU Functions as well as Cross-Segment Functions.
  • Organizational Health & Culture
    • Oversee operational budgets including headcount, T&E, morale, and training spend.
    • Drive compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead culture and skilling initiatives (e.g., Diversity & Inclusion, onboarding, recognition), in partnership with HR Business Partner.
  • Communication Strategy
    • Develop and execute internal communication strategies aligned with Microsoft’s priorities.
    • Prepare and deliver impactful presentations and updates to senior leadership.
    • Orchestrate team calls, offsites, and leadership communications.
  • GmbH & Market Initiatives
    • Support GmbH-wide transformation efforts (e.g., Sales Culture, German Identity, Segment Priorities).
    • Collaborate with Marketing and Corporate teams on external events (e.g., AI Tour, CxO engagements).
    • Contribute to process improvements and best practice sharing across business units.
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field. MBA preferred.
    • Sales leadership experience with exceptional business understanding, sales acumen and a proven track record of driving growth and transformation at customers.
    • Excellent team management skills and ability to impact and influence multiple stakeholders including senior leaders incl. People Management experience
    • An extensive number of years of proven experience displaying excellent project and program management skills and the ability to lead effective v-teams cross-org. Must be able to manage multiple projects, deal with ambiguity, work in a team environment, recognize trends, and identify systematic approaches to solving problems in this fast moving, dynamic environment.
    • Full proficiency in English and German (Level C2 or higher) both, written and verbal, with the ability to produce executive-level materials and drive clarity across diverse audiences.
  • Additional Qualifications
