The Associate Engineer will participate in formal and on-the-job training programs, performing developmental work assignments under the supervision of an experienced engineer. These assignments will help the incumbent become familiar with the company's business, policies, methods, and procedures.
What You Will Do:
- Performs engineering reviews of plans of specific marine structures, as assigned, for compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations and contract commitments.
- Performs limited analysis related to specific marine structures.
- Assists in the development of proposed changes to certification Rules as determined by identified needs and for rule development projects assigned.
- Provides basic technical guidance to field operations and other technical groups.
- Prepares written, technically accurate and timely responses to faxes and letters from clients or other technical groups.
- Drafts technically accurate reports detailing the results of various studies performed for review by a senior Engineer.
- Prepares accurate and timely weekly reports and requests for invoices on all work performed.
- Participates in related training seminars.
- Undergoes ABS Quality System training and applies the TQM principle in the work environment.
- Communicates the status of the current workload to all appropriate members of the organization’s team to insure the needs of the clients will be met.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent in an appropriate technical discipline.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of related technical disciplines.
- Knowledge of marine systems, facilities and hardware.
- The ability to identify, analyze and propose solutions to problems.
- Ability to communicate, orally and in writing .

- Ability to obtain a working knowledge of ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System.
