Company Descripton

The Canadian Football League is Canada's home for professional football. With over a century of rich history and nine member teams across the nation, the CFL provides world-class entertainment and excitement to a passionate and dedicated fan base. A season-long journey of unforgettable moments and must-see-TV broadcasts culminates in Canada’s largest single-day sporting event – the Grey Cup, where the newly crowned champions earn the right to hoist the iconic emblem of Canadian football.

The CFL leads a global movement to grow and modernize the game. The league is committed to a global vision as it connects with fans around the world. It is transforming into a digital-first sports league through an innovative, first-of-its-kind partnership with Genius Sports to maximize fan engagement through data analytics, technological advances, and sports betting.

Just as important as its industry-leading operations, the CFL proudly champions the values on which Canada was built – unity, diversity, inclusion, strength, and service to the community. The league is supportive of all peoples, cultures, and backgrounds, offering a respectful and inclusive working and playing environment, centered on acceptance and understanding. The CFL's successes are measured not only on the field and within its ranks, but also in its unparalleled impact in affecting positive change and bettering Canadian communities and lives.

Position Summary

The Live Content Creator role with the Canadian Football League (CFL) offers an exciting opportunity to capture and create dynamic content for one of Canada's most popular sports leagues. Here’s a breakdown of what the role entails:

As a Live Content Creator, you will be responsible for capturing organic video and photo content during CFL games. Your role will primarily involve working on-site at games, engaging in creative storytelling, and using visual media to highlight the excitement and spectacle of the CFL.

This position allows you to engage in creative freedom and produce content that showcases the excitement of live sports in an innovative and visually appealing way. As a content creator for the CFL, you'll be on the cutting edge of sports media and have the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to the league's digital presence.

Responsbilities

  • Game Coverage: You will attend nine home games within your designated market to capture content before, during, and after the game, ensuring to cover both home and away teams, which will then be sent to game night administrators who will then package content from a storytelling point of view and publish on our channels.
  • Content Creation: You’ll generate dynamic and creative video and photo content that aligns with the CFL’s vision for social media storytelling. This includes content for pregame, in-game, and post-game moments. Overall, your job is to not only capture the on-field product, but the overall CFL experience as a whole.
  • Collaboration: You will work closely with the Social Media team based in Toronto, aligning your content with ongoing storylines and special marketing or partnership requests.
  • Creative Direction: You’ll have the chance to push the boundaries of sports content creation, generating innovative ideas and capturing unique moments that bring the energy of the CFL to life.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional Experience: At least 1 year of experience in capturing live sports content, ideally with a focus on football or other sports.
  • Social Media Expertise: Knowledge of how to tailor content for various social media platforms, ensuring each piece of content is optimized for maximum engagement.
  • Visual Storytelling: An eye for creating compelling stories through video and photos, capturing moments that resonate with fans.
  • Football Knowledge: An understanding of football, specifically the CFL, to better capture the energy and dynamics of the game.
  • Interviewing Skills: Experience interviewing athletes is a plus, but not required.
  • Passion for Sports: A genuine love for sports and an eagerness to contribute to growing the CFL’s presence and fan engagement through social media marketing.

Other Considerations

  • Work Schedule & Environment: Due to the nature of the business, the role requires availability during nights and weekends, with the majority of work taking place during the CFL regular season.
  • Travel: Since this is a seasonal role, travel to and from the stadium in your respective market is required, with the possibility to work additional playoff games.
