We are seeking a Registered Orthopaedic Technologist to join our Fracture Clinic.

Employment Status: Permanent Part-Time
Hours of Work: 8-hour shifts on weekdays and/or weekends, subject to change as per Article 3 – Management Rights

Location: Humber River Health, Wilson Site
Labour Group: NOWU
Reporting Relationship: Manager, Fracture, Plastics & Surgical Clinics, Vascular Access Team
Hourly Rate: $33.564 - $42.684

• Perform interventions such as splint/cast and dressing/bandage application, casting techniques, removal and repair of casts, sutures, wires, pins, and external fixators, and preparation for minor surgical procedures.
• Assist physicians with orthopaedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, fracture reductions, and other interventions on inpatient units and in the plastics clinic.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop orthopaedic care plans collaboratively.
• Re-evaluate and revise orthopaedic plans based on patient progress.
• Process physician orders and document care in patient records.
• Provide patient and family education on orthopaedic treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Maintain inventory of orthopaedic supplies and ensure equipment safety and functionality.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures, report hazards, and ensure safe work environments.
• Follow hospital policies for documentation and incident reporting.
• Work under the supervision of an orthopaedic surgeon, within scope of practice, and comply with hospital policies.
• Train and mentor Orthopaedic Technicians and students.
• Maintain CSOT registration and ongoing professional development through workshops and conferences.

• Current registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT) as a Registered Member.
• Graduate of a recognized Orthopaedic Technologist program or equivalent health-related degree, with sponsorship by an Orthopaedic Physician or equivalent experience.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Minimum of 3 years recent orthopaedic technologist experience, including intervention techniques, assisting with procedures, patient assessment, documentation, and inventory management.
• Knowledge of anatomy, orthopaedic conditions, casting, aseptic techniques, and surgical setup.
• Ability to interpret x-rays, provide excellent customer service, manage time effectively, and work independently and in teams.
• Energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to lifelong learning. Experience in plastics or fracture clinics and a nursing/medical background are assets.
