Key Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Service to Supported Persons
  2. Gathers information relevant to the supported youth’s problems, needs and risks by interviewing, observing behavior, meeting with caregivers and service providers and using a variety of inventories, checklists and questionnaires. Reviews the information gathered to identify problems, needs and risks.
  3. Develops and implements short-term, issue-specific intervention plans within program guidelines in consultation with the supervisor.
  4. Plans, prepares and conducts group or individual counselling sessions using techniques such as active listening, conflict resolution, basic group counselling and basic psycho-educational group methods to resolve the identified problems, needs and risks.
  5. Provides skill building in areas such as self-care, safety, financial awareness, budgeting, anger management or self-management techniques.
  6. Evaluates the effectiveness of the intervention plan, reports on supported youth progress, and discusses related concerns with the supervisor in order to resolve identified problems and move towards defined objectives.
  7. Maintains and records relevant information in the youth’s, staff and any other communication books/logs and provides reports to supervisors as required.
  8. Record medication distribution, weight and any other pertinent information on each youth.
  9. Be responsible for and record up-to-date financial records for each supported youth and account for petty cash.
  10. Liaises with and/or promotes the interests of supported youth with other community service providers, professionals and school personnel as required.
  11. Communicate and update supported youth’s family as required.
  12. Drive and accompany supported youth to meetings and appointments as required.
  13. To work in conjunction with the supported youth to ensure that their home is well maintained and tidy, including daily food preparation and light housekeeping duties.
  14. Performs other related duties as required.
Staff and Organization
  1. Outlines services provided by the program and/or organization. Provides information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.
  2. Contribute to the overall Health and Safety of the program, including record keeping of any home repair or maintenance needs as they occur. Participate in OH&S drills and inspections, as required.
  3. Participate in staff meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings and care conferences, as requested.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Grade 12 education or Post-secondary Diploma in the community social services/youth services/health care field.
  • One (1) year recent related work experience in the community social services/youth services/health care field
  • Must be willing to get a Criminal Records Search
  • Current first-aid and CPR certification
  • Unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s license. If driving a commercial company vehicle, a Class 4 license is required.
  • Any qualifications or skills required of the Licensing Officer or the funding body

Are you a current or former employee at Pacific Coast?

If yes, who are your manager(s)?

Do you have a valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence?

Do you have a valid BC Class 4 Driver's Licence to drive passenger vehicles?

If no Class 5 or Class 4 Driver's Licence, which Class Driver's Licence do you have?

Are you willing to relocate?

Do you have emergency first aid / CPR training?

Do you have any Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training? ie MANDT, or CPI, etc.

Do you have a valid and up-to-date Criminal Record Check? (CRCs are valid for five years)
