Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician/Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Physician

University of Wisconsin Madison
Brantford
CAD 100,000 - 140,000
Job description
Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrician to join our Division of Developmental Pediatrics & Rehabilitation Medicine. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.

The UW Department of Pediatrics is a vibrant academic department comprising over 200 faculty in seventeen subspecialty divisions. The Department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting edge research and vigorous advocacy.

Our Division of Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation Medicine comprises a unique combination of subspecialty services for children with a wide range of developmental needs. Our clinics provide developmental care and assessment for children, including high risk NICU graduates, and children with developmental disabilities and autism, including children with genetic conditions and medical and behavioral complexity. The dynamic and growing division includes a faculty neuroscientist, 8 faculty physicians, and 3 pediatric nurse-practitioners. Developmental Pediatricians work collaboratively with a large interdisciplinary team, which includes psychologists, speech-language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, dietitian, nurses, and social workers/family navigators. We are housed at the Waisman Center, a facility devoted to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases. The Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility. It is one of nine national facilities that include an Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) and a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). Waisman is also a training site for the Wisconsin Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program.

The University of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics continues to be a leader among pediatric departments in federal research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR). The recently released 2021 rankings lists the Department of Pediatrics as No. 7 in the nation with $37.5 million in funding from the NIH. The department has continued to rise in national rankings of research dollars, up from No. 31 in 2012, and it has ranked in the top 13 for five years straight.

A competitive salary and benefit package is provided, including generous academic support. UW- Madison is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.

Responsibilities:

*Provide developmental assessment and clinical care to pediatric patients, working collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

*Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents and fellows and graduate students/LEND trainees and post-doctoral trainees. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.

*Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest to the candidate and the division. These pursuits can take many forms and will often be executed in conjunction with clinical activities but are not limited to that venue. (only applies to CHS Track)

*The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the Department of Pediatrics and UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

The Department of Pediatrics, the School of Medicine and Public Health, and the University of Wisconsin offer an exceptional environment in which to establish and grow a robust academic career.
