Job description

The Waterproofing Estimator is responsible for providing cost estimates for projects and performing quantity takeoffs. They develop scopes of work and budgets and prepare bids for new projects. They review plans and specifications to determine project requirements. The Waterproofing Estimator also meets with clients to discuss project needs and objectives.

He/she will be responsible in procuring competitive projects, cooperating with subcontractors, and training and assisting estimating staff, seeking key information from subcontractors and participating in periodic reviews. He/she will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that the organization or client is fully aware of the necessary tools or information required to successfully bid and acquire a project.

It is the duty of the Waterproofing Estimator to liaise and follow up with subcontractors in order to ensure that bids are received, while also working with project management teams in order to follow up on bids and budgets to close the business.

Main Responsibilities

Determining the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for construction projects.

Researching construction documents and analyzing specifications.

Preparing estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling project work.

Managing pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions.

Preparing estimates to meet project goals, such as setting work hours, sequencing tasks, obtaining materials, and securing the best deals with vendors and subcontractors.

Ensuring that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline.

Regularly reporting to Management and keeping clients updated on the project status.

Formulating contingency plans and effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time estimates.

Keeping track of the latest estimating technology and industry-related techniques.

Collaborating with other teams, conducting site visits, and providing other services, like bid deliveries, when required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil or architectural engineering, construction management, or an equivalent degree.

10+ years of experience as an estimator in Waterproofing/Roofing

Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.

Brilliant management and negotiation skills.

Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders.

Excellent research, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills.

Extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards.

Advanced computer skills and demonstrable competency with software such as Bluebeam

Ability to travel extensively and perform site visits.
