Pivotal LLP is currently seeking a senior accountant to join our team virtually.

Responsibilities
- Conduct compilation, review, audit, and tax engagements
- Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes
- Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations (ASNPO)
- Perform analysis of complex accounting issues
- Perform financial and systems analysis
- Prepare personal and corporate tax returns (and other tax compliance slips) ensuring compliance with government standards
- Prepare year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s)
- Complete bank and other account reconciliations
- Prepare payroll, GST and government reports
- Respond to client questions and queries
- Identify technical issues and discuss with manager or engagement partner
- Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
- Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement
- Collaborate with client engagement team prior to commencement of client work
- Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses
- Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
- Assist in streamlining client’s systems
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients
- Develop a thorough understanding of Pivotal’s services and the businesses and industries we serve
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
- Lead engagement teams while coaching and mentoring junior team members
- Attend and assist in developing internal courses to further accounting, assurance, and tax knowledge

- Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware (and Caseware Cloud), Profile, Taxprep, QuickBooks, Sage and QBO is beneficial
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Office 365
- Extensive knowledge and experience with ASPE and ASNPO, with a strong working knowledge of corporate and personal income taxes
Required qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration
- Completion of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards a CPA designation
- 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in public practice in Canada
